The Ruahine Rural Fire Brigade, is a non-profit, Forest Industry Brigade composed of volunteers who perform fire suppression and other related services for private landowners and small forest owners.
The brigade also provides resources and support to other emergency service organisations.
The Ruahine Rural Fire Brigade was established and is trained to the same standards that are prescribed for other fire services within New Zealand.
The crew’s main mission is rural firefighting, but we are also utilised to provide first aid and fire cover at community and corporate events.
The Ruahine Rural Fire Brigade receives no funding from the Government. We are supported by our body corporate, Rural Fire Service and initiate our own fundraising projects. This allows us to operate and manage ourselves independently.
Our Rural Fire Station is situated at 56 Mill Street, RD1, Ongaonga Central Hawke’s Bay.
