About Me - My name is Mechelle, I live with my family in the hills behind Ongaonga. I love to bake and decorate cakes.

Mechelle’s Cakes & Cupcakes was born out of a love baking after many years of creating cakes and cupcakes for family and friends.

I only bake from scratch and use quality ingredients, I have a passion for what I do and this is what drives me to improve my skills with every cake I create.

Wedding Cakes – I specialise in wedding cakes making detailed handmade flowers, matching colours and detailed embroidery on the cake that can even compliment your gown or to match the invitation.

Your wedding cake is one of your most important cakes it is best to make an appointment to come in to see me and discuss your wedding cake in more detail.

Birthday Cakes – I offer a range of designer cakes to suit the individual birthday person. My cakes come with delicious icing decorated with either handmade sugar stars, chocolates, fresh berries or fresh flowers, and the Birthday Greeting.

Special Occasion Cakes – I offer a wide range of special occasion cakes for your engagement, anniversary, christening, baby showers, hens parties and corporate events.

Cup Cakes – I offer a wide range of personalised cupcakes ideal for every occasion. My cupcakes are all custom made so pricing will vary depending on what type of frosting, flavours, quantity and design you are after.

I prefer orders made in dozens please enquire for alternate arrangements if you require another amount.

Please note the quantity ordered will also alter the price of your cupcakes i.e. the more you purchase the lower the price per cupcake.

Flavours – My cakes are made from only the freshest ingredients and are home-baked the traditional way, to create a deliciously tasty cake. I know you will be able to taste the freshness in all of our cakes.

Gluten Free - All cakes can be made gluten free ($5). Please note, my kitchen is small, so the chance of cross-contamination occurring is present - if you have a severe gluten, egg, dairy or nut allergy, please let me know when you place your order.

Bookings - As each cake I make in my kitchen is hand-crafted, only a limited number of cake orders can be accommodated.

For this reason, I recommend booking your wedding or large event cake six months in advance.

For sculpted or special event cakes two weeks’ notice is required. Depending on our bookings we are sometimes able to accommodate an order on short notice.

Bookings are on a first come, first serve basis.

Pricing – There is no standard price list as each cake is an individual creation based on the design, complexity and the number of servings and so are priced per order.

Deposit - Please note a 50% deposit is required on all orders.

Delivery - Prices include delivery in Central Hawke’s Bay. Deliveries to other areas are not always possible and are subject to a minimum order and pre-negotiated price.

Please note changes to style and delivery instructions after placing of order will incur additional charges.

Terms & Conditions - All cupcakes and large cakes are individually made with my own unique homemade flavour.

While every effort is made to fulfil your order and make the colours and finishes on my cupcakes and large cakes as close as possible to the colours and finishes of sample photos and your expectations.

I cannot guarantee an exact match in colours and finishes. The representation of icing colours and custom decorations are limited by ingredients used.

Edible images may vary due to screen and printer settings.

Orders – Please send me detailed description on your design or picture of the cake you like and other details such as date, location for delivery by email so I can give you a quote.

Once your design and deposit is confirmed, I will start planning the cake you will always remember and make arrangement for it to be collected or delivered.
