Whānau Manaaki Matariki Kindergarten

"Matariki Kindergarten is nestled at the foot of the Wallaceville Hill. We provide the community with an all-day mixed age service, for children from birth to five.

Our kindergarten philosophy and programmes are designed to meet the needs of individual children. We are the only Kindergarten in Upper Hutt that provides all day education and care.

We have a strong community feel, and enjoy our whānau nights each term. These provide a chance for our families and extended whānau to come together and celebrate.

Our dynamic teaching team fosters learning through respectful, responsive and caring relationships and experiences. Within our mixed age setting tuakana/teina is an important part of our philosophy as our children learn alongside one another and from their older peers.

We run two specific programmes, designed to notice, recognise and respond to our infants, toddlers and young children. Our under two area has a programme designed to meet the needs of our infants and toddlers.

A similar programme running for our older children is based on emerging interests, diverse and traditional celebrations, community involvement, and becoming confident and competent learners."
