Welcome Rock Trails

Welcome Rock Trails is located in Garston, Southland, New Zealand. A one hour drive south of Queenstown. There are no large aircraft, no homes or commercial business or structures to encounter at Welcome Rock Trails. The location gives a feeling of isolation yet is close enough to access from Queenstown and Invercargill.

Welcome Rock Trails is a subalpine single track mountain bike and walking trail. Stage one of two incorporates a grade two beginner / intermediate trail that takes the rider/walker into native tussock land and beach forest. The trails are set in stunning mountains ranging from 500 to 4000 feet above sea level. With its historical and ecological interpretation it is easily accessible yet it's remote back country location with little evidence of modern day civilisation.

Day visits or overnight stays will be available to riders and walkers who can choose from one of three back country huts. The Mud Hut is currently available to walkers or guests who are just wanting to stay in the high country, please contact us for more information on this.
