More about Walk Gisborne

From the rippling waters of the Waimata River to the expansive Pacific Ocean, Walk Gisborne has it all and encompasses all that is best about the Gisborne region

Experience spectacular farm and expansive coastal scenery - beside rivers and streams, over open hill country reaching vantage points of up to 323m, through pockets of puriri-rich native bush, stands of kanuka and valleys of toitoi to the famed white sands of Makorori Beach. It passes historic kumara pits and ancient mud volcanoes and affords simply stunning views of this edge-of-the-earth paradise.

Located on the East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island, Walk Gisborne begins just 15 minutes’ drive from Gisborne city and 20 minutes from the airport.

Each day’s walk on well marked trails takes between three and six hours depending on speed and fitness levels. Moderate fitness is advised.

Accommodation is provided in character-filled Lodges both beautifully restored and furnished to combine luxury with memorabilia of a bygone era with fully-equipped kitchens. Both sleep 12 with fresh crisp linen provided. Enhance your stay with delicious meals made from fresh local produce by one of Gisbornes’ leading chefs, delivered to the Lodges daily.
