Waitakere Tramline and NZ Regional Trains

Narrow gauge bush tramline that traverses 2.4 km of the Waitakere Ranges,and under the Scenic Drive through Georges Tunnel (700m), over a wooden viaduct ,passing Picnic Flats(site of former construction village)and eventually meandering through bush glades, to gradually ascend to the base of Waitakere Dam's concrete steps leading up to walkway. Currently closed by Watercare up to this date of 29th may 2015 until further notice, but talks are in progress to resume operations.
