The Vanished World Trail

A community-run Fossil and Geological trail throughout North Otago. It is self-guided, with 20 main sites to visit within an 80km coastal and inland range.

The trail spans a range of ancient environments represented in the layers of rock, from sea-faring volcanoes and crowded seafloors, to the swampy lands of the Cretaceous and beyond.

The Vanished World Centre
Don't forget to visit the Vanished World Centre in Duntroon, a museum and education centre showcasing various fossil finds and rock examples from the area.

To help with the running costs of the Centre, the entry fees to the museum are as follows:

- $10.00 per adult
- $20.00 for a family
- Children under 12 years accompanied by an adult are FREE

The Centre also offers a wide selection of informative books to purchase.
