More about The Equality Party

A brand new political party committed to largely centrist ideologies with a little left and right thrown in for good measure.

Committed to equality in law for all New Zealanders, small government, individual freedoms, personal responsibility, quality care & a hand up for those in genuine need and improved bureaucratic & government accountability.

We are strongly against separatist, race based policies and are committed to solidarity across all races, colours, creeds, ethnicities and religions. We respect Maori as having been custodians of our country for centuries before the arrival of Europeans and recognise the Treaty of Waitangi as our founding document whereby both peoples became one - equals in the eyes of the law and of the crown. However, we equally recognise its intent was simply to set important guidelines for a future nation living together as one people - peacefully and equally.

There is only one legal Treaty, there are no "Principles of the Treaty", the Waitangi Tribunal and Maori Parliamentary seats have long since passed their original purposes and all grievances must be settled within the next parliamentary term. We cannot forever be grieving the past & blaming today's government & society for potential wrongs committed over 8 generations ago. The only way forward is together, as one.

Driven to transform education from an international embarrassment into an international advantage & in doing so create the foundation of an evolving knowledge economy,

Very strong belief in transitioning to clean energy options as quickly as possible & the prudent development of large scale public transport solutions to compliment the ongoing need for a world class roading network.

All policies must respect our absolute commitment to a clean, green environment where economics, industry & GDP must work hand in hand with environmental objectives targeting improved air, spoil and water quality nationally over each parliamentary term.
