After 23 years, Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 is being reformed.
Te Ture Whenua Māori Bill will make it easier for Māori land owners to make decisions about how they wish to use their whenua, at the same time ensuring appropriate safeguards for the retention of Māori land as a taonga tuku iho.
Following extensive consultation a number of changes have been made to Te Ture Whenua Māori Bill. Te Puni Kōkiri is on the road holding engagement hui to explain these changes, what the next steps will be, and answer any questions about the reform.
