A Māori health provider delivering “mobile suitcase” – Whanau Ora and Kaupapa Maori Mental Health & Addiction Services to people who reside within the middle reaches of the Whanganui River. Te Puke Karanga Hauora are responsible for providing a range of general health education and promotion, advisory, liaison and coordination services and activities. One key objective is to ensure that the activities of existing health professionals are coordinated and effectively targeted for Māori, and that Māori are assisted to better utilise those services. These health needs are not restricted to medical conditions as it is intended that the goals and strategies address the broader determinants of health eg. housing, education, poverty etc.
