More about Tapasya School of Classical Dance

Tapasya School of Classical Dance

Tapasya is a humble venture towards divulging my knowledge in classical dance to those who are passionate about it. For this I am immensely grateful to my gurus who trained me in various art forms, my parents and my family for their wholehearted support.

Dance is an ultimate treat for your body, mind and soul. Once you have mastered one of these art forms there will be no boundary to the happiness and fulfillment you could attain in your life.

Training can start from the age of five and there is no upper limit. Indian classical dance will give an opportunity to learn the culture. Learning dance will enhance their body coordination and can help them to hone their concentration naturally.

Training will be offered for Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam. There will be a beginner class for those who are completely new to the art form. Beginners will learn the basic steps, the hand gestures and various dance pieces in a succession depending on their progress. Intermediate classes for those who have mastered the basics and advanced classes are designed to learn items.

We invite you to join Tapasya to enlighten your body, mind and soul.

About me:

I am a Virologist by profession and dance is my passion.

I started learning dance at the age of five and have been continuing to do so till date. I was honored with ‘Balathilakam & Kalathilakam in school fests and have performed internationally.

I have been trained in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam and Kathakali by Guru Kalamandalam Mohana Thulasi, Guru Sudha Peethamabharan, Guru Payyanur Krishnan, Guru Hanumantha Rao and Guru Kalamandalam Vasudevan.

While I was doing my PhD in the UK, I have worked as Assistant Arts Officer at Kala Sangam, an Art Organisation based in Bradford which helped me to keep my passion alive amidst my monotonous scientific career.

I am now settled in Auckland with my husband Sreekanth and three musketeers Jagan, Darshan & Devan.

Classes:
Group classes as well as individual classes are provided.
Classes are on hourly basis, of one-hour duration.
