Shotokan Karate Hawke's Bay

Traditional training for modern times! Shotokan Karate HB is dedicated to providing youth, teen, and adult Hawke's Bay & New Zealand students high level instruction and training in all aspects of traditional Shotokan Karate-do.

The Napier Shotokan Club, started in 2008. is Edmond Otis sensei's personal NZ dojo, training kids, teens, and adults, in the heart of Napier, New Zealand.

Shotokan Karate is practiced world-wide as an intense physical art and an outstanding total mind-body exercise. It is a decisive method of self-defense, and a proven way to develop self-control & discipline for kids, and to manage stress for adults. It is an exciting competitive sport, and, for some - it becomes a philosophy of life.

Shotokan is an art that allows participants of all ages and at varying levels of intensity - from recreational practitioners - to internationally competitive athletes - to professional instructors - to train to their full potential.

Our philosophy is based on the core principles of “character, sincerity, dedication, etiquette and self control” - making Shotokan Karate an especially good martial-art for children and families as well as individual adults.
