Rakaia Branch NZDA

Branch Meetings
Branch meetings are held on the first Wednesday evening of each month. Meetings are held at the pavilion at the end of Park lane Ashburton. There is no branch meeting in January.
Doors open at 7:15pm and the meeting starts at 7:30. We endeavor to provide a range of speakers on subjects of interest to hunters and shooters. Visitors are most welcome at meetings.

Huts
The branch has 3 hut’s in the Rakaia river that were built by the early members and are still maintated by the branch today. The Huts are;
Reicheck Hut towards the head of the Rakaia on the true right.
Evens Hut at the confluence of cattle creek and the Rakaia.
Mathis Hut on the true right of the Mathis river opposite Moraine creek
These hut are have a $5 per night per person fee

Rifle Range
The branch has access to the Ashburton rifle range. The range is built to modern standards and provides shooting up to 700 yards. The range is generally available during the week as well as some weekends,

Hunter Training Course
Like many other NZDA branches around New Zealand, Rakaia Branch runs a hunter training course for those relatively new to hunting. The course is run along modular lines.
