More about Pukeahu National War Memorial Park

This Pukeahu National War Memorial page has been set up by Manatū Taonga – Ministry for Culture and Heritage (MCH) in partnership with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) to keep you informed about the activities taking place around Pukeahu National War Memorial Park.

In August 2012, the Government announced a major project to underground Buckle Street in front of the National War Memorial and to remove the majority of traffic that currently separates Memorial Park from the National War Memorial. The Government also allocated further funding to create a new unified National Memorial precinct. Pukeahu National War Memorial Park was opened in April 2015.

We encourage you to follow this page and contribute to it as Pukeahu and its surrounding environment transforms into a significant site for remembrance and appreciation. We follow the same community guidelines for comments and wall posts on this facebook page as we do on our other pages.

Manatū Taonga – the Ministry for Culture and Heritage works to enrich the lives of all New Zealanders by supporting our dynamic culture and preserving our heritage. We support many of New Zealand’s arts, media, heritage and sports organisations; advise government on cultural matters and provide research and resources for everyone to access.

The National War Memorial is closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day.
