Newtown Early Learning Centre

Newtown Community Creche provides high-quality education and care for children aged 1-5 years old, right in the heart of Newtown in Wellington.

The creche is open from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, with 2 session times to choose from; 8.15am – 2.45pm or 9am – 3.30pm this includes school holidays. The creche closes for a four week period over Summer.

Newtown Community Creche is an incorporated society and a registered charity.
Parents and whanau are able to participate in the running of the creche, for example by taking on a committee role or helping out with special activities on session occasionally. Governance of the creche is by the parent committee.

Our ERO review was positive and in particular noted: “Children learn and interact happily. They have fun at play which is usually child-initiated. Teachers engage in one-to-one responsive interactions with them. They are respectful, warm, nurturing and encourage children’s social skills and independence.”
