Nemidon Pure Marine Gels

Nemidon has specially developed aqueous gels of a pleasant texture without the addition of oils. The gels are derived from a neutral seaweed colloid, are water attracting, yet insoluble in cold water.

The molecular structure of the gels consists of long tubes and cavities walled by sugar units. These allow water to diffuse in and out at will, and hence will immediately begin providing water to anything which is inherently drier than itself, yet will absorb water if it is partially dry.The large cavities allow active ingredients to be delivered to the skin. If the ingredients are water soluble, they are delivered by diffusion. If the ingredients are fat soluble, body lipids will draw them from the gel. Unlike most other gels or creams, there is no distribution co-efficient to overcome and there is an increase in efficiency of delivery of these ingredients.

When the gels are rubbed onto the skin they appears to be absorbed into the skin so that there is no discernible residue, unless one has been deliberately added. This leaves the skin with a pleasant velvet feeling. Strapping can be applied immediately after application.

The Nemidon range includes several excellent moisturisers which are equally good for providing moisture balance, thus, unlike most other skin applications they will allow perspiration to pass through rather than the application being irrigated off with perspiration.

The application of active ingredients with Nemidon Gels operates by a different principle, because the actives are never dissolved in the Nemidon, but rather are dispersed in water in cavities within the gel, and the actives are delivered through water flow rather than by diffusion.
