Matiere Earthmoving LTD

Matiere Earthmoving Limited is a husband/wife partnership which was established in September of 2001 initially as Matiere Earthmoving Services. We became an Incorporated Company in 2003.
We are based in the small rural community of Matiere which is a 30 minute drive north/west of Taumarunui on a sealed road.
Our main client base comes from the farming sector. We specialise in all aspects of farm excavation on terrain that is mostly medium to steep hill country.
We are registered sub-contractors for Roading and Civil Works projects and also do all domestic excavation including building sites and landscaping. We are also heavy Machinery Transporters and Cartage Contractors.
We have had a humble beginning as we started out with one Komatsu D31 Bulldozer and a single Transporter truck. In 2003 the opportunity arose to buy out the local digger contractor and so with that we purchased our first digger and retained the majority of his clientele. Andrew operated both machines on his own for the first few years but as our client base increased it became necessary to take on some casual staff. We then decided to extend our services beyond the farming sector and have become approved and successful sub-contractors for Roading and Civil works projects that we undertake for Ruapehu District Council and Horizons.
Andrew became a licensed Explosives handler and we upgraded our fleet to cater to the demand.
With Andrew doing all of our truck and machinery maintenance out of a carport built on the side of our car shed we welcomed the completion of the depot in 2008. This also opened a whole new opportunity as it became apparent very quickly that there was a genuine demand for a mechanical service in the area. We started off with basic puncture repairs etc which Andrew would do after a full day digger operating. By this stage we had purchased a second digger so the decision was made to employ a full time machine operator and mechanic and thus we did in 2010.
From our Depot in Phillips St we provide a full mechanical breakdown service and are certified to issue W.O.F’s. We also offer a range of products from tyres to batteries. In the yard we stockpile a range of material including metal , builders mix , sand and bark. We also have a Depot and yard in the neighbouring town of Ohura in which we also stock a range of material.
From then we have maintained a progressively steady growth and now have a full time staff of 5 and a casual staff base of anywhere up to 8.
