More about Marshlands Nest Early Learning Centre

NESTS Early Learning Centres offer a homelike setting with a garden where children are able to enjoy nature and learn to respect their environment.
Marshlands NEST as with all NEST centres is owned and operated by the Director and set up following the NEST Early Learning Centres philosophy that focuses on family values. We believe children need to feel safe and have a sense of belonging in their ‘home away from home’. All teachers devote themselves to maintaining an environment where self-esteem, love, learning and respect for others are prominent. The goal is for children to leave each day feeling secure and loved in their special environment.

The Director Roslyn Eason has had input in every aspect of the Centre from the initial design, to setting the centre, philosophy and programme :

Nurturing children is vital if they are to grow to be healthy, confident, happy individuals. Marshlands NEST is a small centre with one licence which means babies, toddlers and young children are able to interact with each other and learn from each other

At the NESTS we believe…
• in a small safe and supportive environment in which children and their families can contribute and feel part of the early childhood centre
• both the indoor and outdoor environment and the curriculum are based on sustainable practices and procedures
• that qualified, dedicated staff are critical to the development and ongoing maintenance of a quality early childhood program
• that play and relationships are the most important things through which children learn
• children should have the freedom to make their own choices
• in developing each child’s individual strengths and characteristics by finding goals that will best benefit their learning and development
• in encouraging children to express themselves through communication, play, creativity, music and exploration
• that children manipulate objects in their environment, creative play, and discovery of their world around them
• in encouraging freedom of expression, while encouraging behaviour that is appropriate instead of the behaviour the we do not want
• children need their basic needs met, such as safety, nutrition and shelter, before any learning can take place
• music, play, laughter, and high quality interactions are the best ways to help a child develop to their full potential
• in playing soft calming music, especially during meal time and sleep times
• writing quality stories in the children’s profile books that clearly show the families how we are going to further develop these skills acquired
• that parent’s are the child’s first teachers, so they will know the most about their children
