Manawatu Birth Photography and community support

Thank you for considering us to photograph your birthing experience. We photograph your labour and birth as it unfolds so the results are unique to you. We are sensitive to you and your birth-partners roles during this process. Our focus is on capturing the emotions and connections made in the special moments during your birth.

Every birth is an unpredictable journey and will be photographed in a candid photojournalistic/documentary style.

We also do maternity, and newborn sessions. Maternity can be wherever you choose. New born (at this point) is at your home. Please keep the room warm. I will bring some props but will work with anything you would like to add.

My name is Helen Smith, I live on a small lifestyle block in Waituna West with my husband (Jason) of 26 years and our much loved (and spoilt) animals. I have a BAVI (Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging in Photography) and also am a doula (professional birth attendant) student. We are the parents of 3 children, and grandparents of two grand daughters. In 2014 I completed a three-day Birth Photography workshop run by award winning Adelaide Birth Photography, with some on New Zealand’s best Birth photographers.
