Lazy Dog Backpackers

Welcome to The Lazy Dog Backpackers in Turangi, our resident Chocolate Labrador, Hazel (the lazy dog) is always around to welcome you in and loves to meet new people!

We are a good old-fashioned backpackers hostel with an easy-going, relaxed and friendly atmosphere and some awesome perks like free unlimited Wifi, gas BBQ, laundry facilities and free bus stop/isite pickup service. We have a sunny outdoor garden with plenty of seating and a wood-fire for the winter months. The Tongariro River is also just a 2 minute walk from our doorstep.

We will always do our best to make sure your trip through Turangi is as fun or relaxing as possible. If you're keen for a quiet night or day in we have hundreds of movies & TV shows on our hard drive and a PS3 for gamers. We also have live or delayed English Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and Bundesliga games most days of the week.
