Kohukohu Cafe And Accommodation

The Kohukohu Hotel is owned and run by Trish and Russell Birt. They have grown and shaped their business into what it is today. They have added alfresco dining and created a very inviting garden bar to enjoy a cool ale while soaking up the view.
After 13 years they have decided to take a step back from part of their business for a period and look into other opportunities within the community.

This page has been created to introduce ourselves as the management team who will work alongside Trish and Russell in running the café and accommodation portion of their business.

Dulcie Waghorn whom many of you may have already met has been working in the café for the past 3 months. Dulcie is a chef by trade and originally from Matauri Bay over on the beautiful East Coast. She has managed catering kitchens for the past 30 years in Wellington.

Dulcie's partner James Lundon has strong connections to Kohukohu more specifically Motukaraka where he was born and raised until he moved to Wellington where he currently resides and works. He is a key player in this venture providing support and ideas in terms of the growth.

Alicia Lundon is their youngest daughter and she has just moved north from Wellington this week to help her mum in the business. Alicia plays an important role in terms of providing support on the ground with the business.

My name is Reena Rio-Singh, my mum is Alecia Lundon (or Didi to some). I currently reside and work in Sydney Australia but have been wanting to move home for a number of years. Even though I'm not there physically to assist in running the day to day business I am still an active member of the management team and provide as much admin support as I can.

My partner Nathan Charlton is originally from Tuatapere, Southland. His first ever trip to northland with me back 2012 and he fell in love with the place. He provides me with support at those times when I'm having melt downs! lol
