KODOMO, meaning ‘child’ in Japanese was born in 2014 out of a fascination with the fresh, fun and forward thinking approach of Japanese design for children.

We are Kiwi sisters raising our families in Aotearoa-New Zealand and Japan. We enjoy dressing our five children in Japanese fashion and thought why not share the fun with other Kiwi families!

Contemporary Japanese design is renowned as being cutting edge, distinctive and of a high quality.

Children’s fashion in Japan is a thriving industry. From a young age a Japanese child is encouraged to express themselves through fashion. Playful and charming, mini versions of adult styles are popular .

Our products are sourced directly from Japan. We hunt down designs that you won’t come across here in Aotearoa-NZ; ensuring they are high quality and affordable.

Clothing for children in Japan must legally adhere to lower formaldehyde levels than in New Zealand. Less chemicals in our children’s clothing has gotta be a good thing!
