Kauri Creations and Innovations, also know as The Kauri Clock Factory, is located in Whangarei, Northland. It is at this site in Whangarei where our experienced team of Master Craftsmen have created world famous Ancient Kauri Clocks, Tables, Chairs and smaller items.

The giant Kauri is the most famous New Zealand native tree and one of the largest trees found anywhere in the world. It was milled extensively during the 19th and early 20th century. Today legalization prevents the felling of any growing kauri tree.

Thousands of years ago huge natural disasters caused many Kauri forests to be flattened and the trees to be buried in swamps. The wood was perfectly preserved and radiocarbon dating has revealed that some of this wood has been buried for up to 40,000 years. It is from these buried forests that the name "swamp kauri" arose. This swamp kauri is believed to be the oldest workable wood in the world and is sourced in the upper North Island of New Zealand

At Kauri Creations and Innovations we exclusively work with ancient swamp kauri. We pride ourselves in our knowledge and skill to create the highest quality products out of this ancient timber.

Getting the wood from a raw stump, straight from the ground, into a finished product is a complex process. This process includes, removing the dirt and peat out of the extravagant root structures, working the wood into natural shapes of all sizes for everyone to enjoy. Careful application of different finishes enhance the natural beauty of this unique and precious timber.
