At Howes and Brown Optometrists Meadowbank we offer Behavioural Optometry Consultations.

Behavioural Optometry is a specialist area within optometry requiring significant post-graduate study beyond the level of general practice.

Behavioural optometrists are interested in the total visual process, such as how we integrate vision with other sensory and motor systems along with the processing of visual information.

Our assessments include:
• Functional Vision Skills such as fixation, focus, eye teaming and eye movement control.
• Perceptual Visual Skills such as visual spatial abilities, visual analysis abilities, visuo-motor integration abilities, visual-auditory integration abilities and selective visual attention.

Conditions involving difficulties in these skills may be developmental or acquired and can be improved with vision therapy.

Vision therapy is an individualised program of planned sequential activities designed to enhance development of visual function and perceptual performance. Therapy is offered in home based or in-office programs.
