ECP – External Counter Pulsation is a safe and effective, non-surgical treatment for anginal heart disease and certain other disorders resulting from poor circulation. The procedure is FDA approved in the US and is used in many countries worldwide.
Treatment involves computer managed, ECG triggered, pressure pulses from cuffs applied to the legs and pelvis region. Over time arterial flow increases to relieve the symptoms of diminished blood flow.
Clinical data from many studies has demonstrated ECP to be effective. Each treatment takes an hour per day and for most cases, 35 treatments are required to give lasting benefits in most cases.
As an off-label use, certain patients with CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) have benefited.
Elite athletes also use ECP to enhance performance - by increasing blood flow dynamics.
