More about Dunedin Ice Stadium

The Dunedin Ice Stadium is an ice rink in Saint Kilda, Dunedin, New Zealand. The rink was constructed in 2004 inside the structure of the former Dunedin Stadium, which had been used for netball and basketball but had been largely superseded by The Edgar Centre as a venue for these sports. The Dunedin Ice Stadium houses both the international sized 'Corinne Gilkison' ice hockey rink and the 'Caversham Trust' curling rink. The stadium has seating for up to 1,850 people. The facility is used for ice hockey, curling, figure skating and public ice skating, and is the home venue of the Dunedin Thunder ice hockey team. The Dunedin Ice Stadium is owned by Dunedin Ice Sports Inc. which is organised by the Dunedin Ice Hockey Association, Dunedin Ice Skating Club and Dunedin Curling Club. The stadium was host to the 2009 IIHF World Championship Division III in April 2009, and the 2009 World Senior Curling Championships, later the same month.
