Hi! I'm Laura, 22 year old living in the Waikato, NZ. I had Ethan in May '15 and I struggled with finding clothes to breastfeed in. So I had an idea to get my mums sewing machine and try and make some clothes for me. Then I got creating and started making bibs for Ethan. A friend then said I should start selling them. So I made 20 bibs and took them to a local sale. I didn't sell any, but I thought I would take to the facebook world. That's when Chub Bubz came about!
Now the business name is inspired by my son, Ethan, who is off the charts for his height & weight. He is a chubby bubby!
I am a self taught sewer, and in no way a perfect seamstress... However, I do enjoy creating different things, which has lead me to having a whole range of products.
I have a small room in my house that is my wee creative zone. I have a standard sewing machine, and overlocker. I am in no way commercial. I cut out the fabrics, pin them, sew them and create. All while my Chubby Bubby sleeps I might add!!
I use store brought patterns, so that I don't muck up on sizing.
My fabric is sourced from all over the place. I only buy in small amounts most of the time as I like to have things to be unique and quirky.
This means that I don't have a fabric album on my page, so I need to send you photos of fabric options if you wish to purchase an item.
Every item is different, and I think of them as Perfectly-imperfect.
I hope you love my creations, as much as I do.
