I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I’ve had my fair share of medication conditions, which has prevented me from achieving success through exercise. Most of my life I have spent avoiding situations, due to flare ups related to my condition. Consequently, I turned to food. I ate when I was happy, when I was bored, and when I was sad or low. At the start of this year (2017), I weighed myself at 138kg (304lb). I was in complete shock! I remember telling myself the previous year, that if my weight got to 130kg I’d seek professional help, or consider the idea of bariatric surgery. But, I ignored it, and kept eating.
I decided that day to make a change, and change I did. It was slow, but I got myself down to 136kg (299lb). I then explored the idea of a ketogenic diet. I read, I read a lot of information. I decided to restrict myself to 2000 calories, with the ratio; 25g Carbohydrates, 154g Protein, and 143g Fat.
I started the keto diet on the 7th of February 2017, and within 4 weeks I had lost just over 10kg (22lb). My weight loss was rapid in the first two weeks, then began to slow down. However, I have gained muscle! Along with my weight loss I have started to incorporate something I have never could do previously. Exercise! Walking, jogging, running!
I decided to create this Facebook page as a place I can share my story and achievements. With that comes my love for food and cooking. I absolutely love cooking, and experimenting with good produce and spices. My promise is to share my recipes in full detail, in the hope that I inspire others to come on this journey with me. Further, I promise to not promote or sell bullshit. I do not believe in ketone produces. Unless someone can show me some actual proof (large peer reviewed studies).
I have decided to complete the following goals by March 2018
- To be able to run 5km
- To enter and complete Round the Bays 2018
- More to come.
I use the app MyFitnessPal and Fitbit.
Also, I used this calculator to work out what I should be eating. https://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/
A lot of good information on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/keto/comments/27vx2z/beginners_guide_to_keto/
So, thank you for liking this page and following my journey. I hope that my journey inspires you to live a happier lifestyle. Either that being a keto diet, exercise or learning some new recipes.
