Established last year by Ben Rophia and Shelley Houston two very well known and experienced horse people in there own right. Each of which have had over 15+ years in the racing industry . Both as apprentices and going on to be top jumps jockeys , riding internationally in Australia and USA . Both Shelley and Ben have worked for top Trainers and learnt off some of the best in the business the likes of Murry Baker / John Wheeler / Paul Duncan / Kevin Gray etc . They have also been lucky enough to have been involved the educating and riding of some extremely good horses the likes of It's A Dundeel / Seachange / Lion Tammer .
Avoca Racing Stables is on Peake Road opposite the largest training center in NZ and with access to an 1100 home track with practice gates . The property has 12 grass paddocks , 7 large sand yards , 18 boxes , a round pen tie up stalls and wash bay.
Avoca Racing offers competitive prices with professional service for your thoroughbred . Right through from breaking and educating the young horse to full training and racing . Avoca Racing also offers pre training before exporting, and the teaching and schooling of horses for jumps racing .
