Personal teaching philosophy ~ Amber Cleary
I am an advocate for the unhurried childhood. I believe children need time, space and freedom to play, to create, and to just be. I live and teach through the pedagogical principles of Rudolf Steiner, creating an environment rich in imaginative free play, strong daily and seasonal rhythms, and wholesome organic food. Through my practice, I incorporate elements of our national early childhood curriculum, Te Whariki. We connect with the natural world daily in an authentic way. I believe in the child’s ability to learn through play, as well as through imitation, and strive to be a worthy model in all aspects of my being. I actively support the use of te Reo Maori in an authentic way, as well as embracing cultural diversity as is relevant.
