Abbey Caves

The Abbey Caves are located just a 10 minutes from Whangarei in the picturesque nature reserve that surrounds us. We provide our guests with a map, a head-torch and caving shoes that are essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable adventure.

The Organ Cave is the largest of the caves where in the main Catacomb you will see the large over hanging stalactites which look similar to church organ pipes. Middle Cave and Ivy Cave are smaller but equally interesting where it is possible to enter and exit at different points. In all the Caves you will see thousands of glow worms.

Half day Tour to the Abbey Caves $49 including all caving gear and professional guide. We do not rent any gear. Tours start 10.30am and 14.30. Duration 2.5 hours.
