More about Social Work Matters

I am a qualified and Registered Social Work Practitioner living in Otaki. Following graduation with an MA appd Social Work from Victoria University in 1991 I have worked primarily in District Health Boards. In my 30 year Social Work career I have specialised with working with young people with Mental Health and/or Alcohol and/or other Drug problems, and social service/work training.
After a two-year stint in the Public Service, I “retired” to Otaki in 2006 where I work in part time Private Practice as a Supervisor, Trainer, Qualification Assessor and Clinician. I have rooms in Paraparaumu, Otaki, Foxton and Levin. I will provide supervision in workplaces in my Thursday clinic in Wellington. I am available to supervise Social Workers, Community Workers, Youth Workers and students on placement at a negotiable cost to the organisation they work for.
I provide clinical services, individual and group work, for adults and for young people who are supported by their parents or carer to attend. I start with an initial assessment before engaging in ongoing work. Areas of expertise: Mental Health, alcohol and/or other drug problems, grief, suicide bereavement, identity work and family violence prevention. I also provide referral to other agencies and services.
You can see more details about my areas of expertise on the Supervisors register on the ANZASW web site. http://www.anzasw.org.nz/
My scale is a sliding one based on organisation or client affordability and needs to be negotiated. I can be referred to via the PHO or Victim Support Services who provide packages of care.
