School Steps

Building the right steps
Many people think that children are further up the ‘school steps’ if they can write their name and recite the alphabet before they start school. In my experience however, there are many more important steps that need to be built before children can make an exceptional start to school. Many of these steps come from practicing the following:

-Balance
-Hand / foot and eye co-ordination
-Locomotion
-Spacial Awareness
-Eye tracking
-Gross / Fine motor skills

Mixing these activities with some ‘mat time’ for handwriting lessons and building pre-literacy / number knowledge will give your child a strong set of skills to start school with.
I am an experienced new entrant teacher and I want to give your 4 year old the most positive start to school possible by giving them the skills and confidence they need to not only succeed but to love school because of that success! My aim is for these classes to be both fun and educational with a perfect mix of movement and mat time.
