Parafed Northland

Parafed Northland wants to increase awareness and profile of disability sport in the community.

People experiencing a physical disability should have the opportunity to be involved in sport and recreation in a nurturing, adaptive and challenging environment. Which is where Parafed Northland come in.

Parafed Northland can support individuals to become part of mainstream sport, or help find a suitable one-on-one or small group environment.

We also deliver a range of sports such as - but not limited to - wheelchair basketball, bocci, sailing and power chair football.

Parafed Northland also offers a youth club for children with a physical disability and are searching for more blind Northlanders to offer blind specific sports.

Sport and recreation is important for all, with proven benefits including: improving strength, movement, balance and coordination, increasing confidence, social skills and relationships, and gaining sport specific skills.

Another element of what Parafed Northland does is, together with Halberg Disability Sport Foundation, we upskill coaches and volunteers to work successfully with Parafed members.
