More about Looking For Alaska NZ

"Loving, warm and authentic folk that at times makes you want to sing along and dance with an armful of friends – or sit down in solitude, reminisce and let the music fill you"
Sam Vegar, NZ Musician Magazine

"From upbeat, toe-tapping hooks to warm, wistful harmonies, Looking For Alaska is hard to get out of your head, and for good reason."
Natasha Thompson, The Gisborne Herald

Like two weary vagabonds hitch-hiking along the open road with nothing but a guitar and a suitcase of songs and wayward memories, pop-folk duo Looking For Alaska are ready to set the music scene alight.

Members Aaron Gott and Amy Maynard offer up a sound rooted in country-style guitar and soaring harmonies woven together at their very fiber, intensified by their on-stage chemistry. The duo's familiarity, closeness and authenticity is fueled by their real-life romance, creating a magnetic performance style that captivates their audience time and time again, and has seen them open for the likes of Fly My Pretties, Herbs and Tiny Ruins, and as a featured act at the Auckland Folk Festival.

Having performed together extensively since they bonded during a recording assignment at music school in 2012, Aaron and Amy embarked upon their newest musical endeavor Looking For Alaska two years ago, and have since worked tirelessly to create a collection of original material, ranging from thigh-slapping, foot-stomping folk sing-alongs, to poignant heart-rending ballads drenched in melancholy.

In 2016, Looking For Alaska and their band spent 2 whirlwind days recording at the legendary Roundhead Studios in Auckland; what emerged was their self titled debut album Looking For Alaska. Released in October 2016, the album has since spent 5 weeks on the NZ album chart and been a finalist for the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Album award at the 2017 Taite Music Prize.

Since then, Looking For Alaska have been busy touring, playing to sold out rooms around New Zealand on their album release tour, and writing new material. 2017 will see Aaron and Amy take to the road again to share both songs from their debut album and new songs due for release on their sophomore album in 2018.
