The Ministry of Primary Industries have recognised our export market is changing because 1). consumer demands are evolving and changing, 2). there is a need to maintain and add value, 3). there will be an increase in automation and the use of robotics 4). production units will become more specialised, sophisticated and larger, 5). there is a growing demand for support services and 6). a need for transferability of skills across the primary industries.

The Future capability needs for the primary industries in New Zealand report identified that currently, the industry does not have the workforce capability to meet export targets.

Kiwi Leaders engage with students to promote the variety of career path ways in the primary sector as well as working with businesses to develop their education and training succession plans.
