Kimberly Bollen - Tauranga Midwife

Where I grew up in Canada, midwifery was virtually non-existent. Though I was always drawn to pregnant women and babies, I was unaware of my vocation. Once exposed to midwifery, I knew it was for me, being someone who is sensitive, intuitive, and personable. My passion and fervor intensified from seeing the lack of choices and support women from my area were given. I began studying homebirth midwifery in Canada and became a qualified Labour Doula before relocating to Tauranga to marry a Kiwi and complete my training here. As a midwife, I work with a small number of women to allow me to provide individualized, dedicated care with a particular focus on supporting mothers with breastfeeding, while also leaving time to raise my own, young family.

I believe the period around birth sets a foundation for the individual child and also for the woman and family unit. Because of this belief, I want to partner with women to have a healthy and positive birth and postnatal experience for their child's sake. This experience can also bring healing, empowerment and freedom to the woman's body and soul, and as such I strive to honour, support, and protect women during this time. I count it a privilege to be welcomed into the extraordinary, intimate and unique season the time of birth is to a family.

I provide complete antenatal and postnatal care, and attend labour and births at Tauranga Hospital, Bethlehem Birthing Centre, and homebirths.
