We represent an exciting alliance of horse racing enthusiasts that promote racing, related businesses, syndicates, and racing entities throughout the Central Otago area. Most of all we represent the enjoyment of the sport and the love we share for these amazing animals.
Over the years Central Otago has been home and host to many top NZ horses, owners, trainers and jockeys alike. Central Otago was once abuzz with horse racing, boasting a wonderful thriving industry built on good old pioneering skill and ingenuity, abundant with characters and legends alike. The Central Otago picnic meetings were looked forward to with much excitement and enjoyed by family, friends and punters alike and boasted fantastic crowds every time.
Sadly the centralisation of Central Otago racing to our bigger racing locations meant that many of our racecourses were closed. Trainers shifted to the bigger areas or gave it up due to the increase of travel demands and expenses. Owners sent their horses further afield and punters stayed at home to watch racing on TV.
C.O.R.E wants you to know that Central Otago racing is still alive! Trainers, owners, riders, punters are re-uniting. Join us and help us put Central Otago racing back on the map!
