More about Bream Head Scenic Reserve

The Whangarei Heads is an area of outstanding beauty, majestic hills rising dramatically from a deep water harbour, a harbour that has attracted people to the area from the earliest times in New Zealand History. Remnants of ancient Volcanoes form Mt Manaia, Mt Aubrey and the Bream Head Range, which today dominate the landscape and provide a wide range of stunning walks and hikes.
Bream Head Scenic Reserve, situated at the entrance at Whangarei Harbour contains unique archaeological, historical and landscape features and not only has the largest Broadleaf and Pohutukawa forest in Northland but is also home to the North Island Brown Kiwi and there is an abundance of many other native birds.
Locals enjoy a desirable pace of life in this uncompromised corner of Northland. Stop and chat to anyone and you are bound to come away with an interesting story.
All the Tracks throughout Bream Head Peninsula have recently been upgraded.
