More about Aotea Patrol

Research within the Aotea community had indicated a need for monitored alarm services. There has been a noticeable increase of alarms being activated without any response. We cannot rely on our neigbours to investigate every time an alarm goes off.

We want to keep this OUR safe community and with the help of Aotea residents subscribing to alarm monitoring, we can:

*Re-instate CCTV at the roundabout entrance on corner of Routeburn St & Aotea Drive. This will serve as deterrence to unlawful entry and surveillance ability.
*Have a visible presence of a marked patrol vehicle may aide in minimizing burglaries and car crime.
*Fully trained and licensed security personnel will operate the patrol vehicle and respond to activated alarms or potential situations.
*Rapid response time to activated alarms or incidences, as the patrol vehicle will exclusively service the Aotea community.
*Create a safe feeling for residence being assured that a dedicated neighbourhood patrol vehicle is available 24/7.

When construction begins on the new Countdown, anybody with a white van and a fluro vest will have unquestioned access to every street and driveway in Aotea.
That is our deadline for eradicating this problem.
It can be done.
About Aotea Patrol Monitoring

The criminals’ first weapon is surveillance. They sit in their car and watch our homes. They are lazy but clever, perhaps they leave a dashcam on in a parked car. They learn our routines, they knock on our front door and they wait for nobody to answer.
Or they throw a rock through our window and watch from down the street to see how we respond.
When no alarm triggers or nobody investigates the siren, they enter and they loot.

It is good to see some residents already signed up with alarm monitoring companies, but by the time a patrol car arrives from Wellington, Kapiti or Lower Hutt you are already a statistic.
Our goal is to have a patrol car on the streets of Aotea 24/7 to be able to respond within minutes.

More importantly, these people will observe that our routines include the “Aotea Patrol” vehicle constantly checking by our homes.

When we reach our goal of 200 monitored alarms in Aotea, we will be able to fund an installation of CCTV surveillance at the Routeburn St entrance (roundabout on Aotea Drive)
Would be criminals will see that their candy store has closed and they will move on.
